Ravenswood is a Uniting Church, Kindergarten to Year 12 Day and Boarding school which aims to equip and inspire girls to participate in and contribute to our evolving global society. Based in Gordon on Sydney’s North Shore, Ravenswood is one of Australia’s leading independent girls’ schools, offering holistic education with a strong academic focus.
On 1 May 2019, RR poet Eunice Andrada delivered a poetic performance and Q&A session for Year 10 students at Ravenswood School for Girls. Exploring themes of culture, family, and displacement from her latest collection Flood Damages (Giramondo), Eunice's performance shed light on the expieriences of being an immigrant in Australia, and assisted students in their Poetry Unit this term.
Eunice Andrada is a poet and educator. Her debut poetry collection Flood Damages (2018) won the Anne Elder Award and was shortlisted for the Victorian Premier's Literary Award for Poetry and the Dame Mary Gilmore Award. She has performed her poetry on diverse international stages, from the UN Climate Summit in Paris to the Sydney Opera House. Her ecopoetry has been recognised through the awarding of a residency and fellowship presented byAustralian Poetry and Nature Art and Habitat Residency (NAHR). She lives and writes on unceded Gadigal Land.
