Sydney Distance Education High School is a public school committed to excellence and equity in distance education. The largest school provider of flexible blended learning programs in NSW, serving students from just north of Wollongong in the south to Newcastle in the north, and west to the Blue Mountains.
Sydney Distance Education High School had an opportunity to dive into compelling poetry techniques with poet Lorin Elizabeth.
Students engaged in two workshops on the 24th of May as part of their school's one-day festival Big Day In. Lorin worked with 40 students from Years 7 - 12, inviting them into the world of Poetry Object where they explored the secrets of a curious object which is special to them.
Lorin Elizabeth is a spoken word poet, organiser and teaching artist from Thirroul, who co-founded Enough Said Poetry Slam and is published widely including in the Solid Air anthology.
Lorin has performed at Yours & Owls Music Festival, Sydney Opera House and on tour in the USA. She was commissioned for Wollongong Art Gallery's 'Future Feminist Archive' exhibition and leads workshops & panels for The Stella Prize’s Girls Write Up.
