Following the success of our Poetry Month Open Mic for Disabled Creatives, we're teaming up with Bramble and Queensland Poetry in celebration of International Day of People with Disability. Join us for an open mic night for disabled creatives on Zoom. Come along and read a poem, or turn up and show support.

Co-hosted by Bramble editor Spencer Barberis and QLD Poetry's Rae White with a special feature set by Patrick Gunasekera, this free online event will be a fun relaxed night, and also an opportunity to socialise with other writers in the disability community.

Featured poet Patrick Gunasekera (he/him) is a poet, playwright, arts writer, and essayist of Sri Lankan migrant heritage, living on Whadjuk Noongar Boodjar. His work seeks to understand how violence is normalised in society, and what agency and care mean from marginalised positions. Read Patrick's full bio here.

Note: sign-up for the open mic is during the Zoom only; the event hosts will try and accommodate as many poets as possible until all slots are filled (maximum 3 mins per poet). Auto-live captioning can be enabled in Zoom and text-based poems via chat are welcome on the night too. Please feel free to contact us if you have any accessibility queries for this event via access@redroompoetry.org

This event will run from 7-8:30pm (AEDT), which is 4-5:30pm (AWST) for our friends on the West Coast!
