We Ventured into the Mountains

We ventured into the mountains today,

Wandered in the valley, and watched the lorikeets play.

We picnicked under a eucalypt sky,

Explored hidden caves, found secrets from years gone by.

The air was somehow cool, despite the summer’s heat.

Relaxing in the sunshine, a wilderness retreat.

Mesmerised by craggy cliffs, the trees below looked small.

We shed our shoes to leap and dance below the waterfall.

As night time came, ‘twas time to go, but in that moment then,

After all the fun we’d had, we knew that we would come again.
