Kathleen Bleakley came to Australia when she was seven, and is descended from a light-keeper. She joined the Canberra Youth Theatre and co-wrote 'A Fish Tale' with Fiona McVilly. She has a Bachelor of Creative Arts degree with majors in Creative Writing, Performance and English Literature from the University of Wollongong.

In addition to two books of poetry and prose, Kathleen’s work has been widely published in magazines, journals and e-zines including AgencyAustralian ReaderEtchings, Going Down SwingingHecateGriffith ReviewMelaleucaMusePoetrix, and Wet Ink. She has also been broadly anthologised, including in The Circulatory System (Ginninderra Press, 2001), Time Pieces (Ginninderra Press, 1999) and There is no Mystery! An Artistic Response to Weereewa/Lake George(Ginninderra Press, 1999).

She has recently completed a poetry manuscript Lightseekers, with photography by ‘pling (Kathleen’s artistic and life partner).
