Simon Armitage is one of the UK’s most revered poets - his collections have won many awards and are studied by millions of students and adults alike. He has been UK poet laureate since 2019, speaking for a nation as it confronts its greatest challenges, like Covid-19 and climate change, as well as celebrating moments of joy and communion. In this poetry masterclass as part of Contains Strong Language, he shares insights gathered throughout his career. Open for everyone - from beginners to established poets.
Simon Armitage is an English poet, playwright, musician and novelist, who is Professor of Literature at the University of Leeds and since 2019 the Poet Laureate. He has published more than 20 collections of poetry starting with Zoom! In 1989, authored five stage plays and numerous novels and translated classic poems including The Odyssey and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. He regularly appears on television and the radio in the UK.
