Treasure
By Bonny Cassidy
He rose.
Time fell away
in strands. It had coloured
him, breathing
as he breathed, broken
in places like water.
His hips circled forward
a crowded horizon
its surface grazed.
In 2012, Melbourne poet Bonny Cassidy led students of Luther College on a journey to uncover their own poetry object, exploring Red Room Poetry The Cabinet of Lost and Found learning resource. Students were asked to select a 'talismanic object' which has special meaning to them to use as stimulus for a poem, as well as to create a personal cabinet, in the form of an anthology of poems. Bonny composed this poem for the school.
