Distractions

but the monsters are scary and tomorrow

is too long to wait for an anxiety

as toxic as a tax the punters don't understand

and if it was as simple as waving goodbye

to a friend you know is coming back

sometime not soon but in a context you can get

then perhaps I would linger long enough

in a waiting room to take the prescription challenge

and wake up to a day as certain as the earth is flat

at least it was when no one told us any different

and out there in the universe

they have received our transmission

they wonder if a sequel is slated
