Frances Rouse lives in Toowoomba, Queensland. Her poems and short stories have been widely published in Australian and overseas literary journals, and her work broadcast on Radio National and Radio Denmark. For many years she was poetry editor for the Sydney Morning Herald. Counting Icebergs, her play about Elizabeth, wife of Captain Cook, has received many rehearsed readings and performances around Australia as well as in Honolulu, Montreal and in Ukraine. With the 250th anniversary of Cook’s voyages beginning in 2018, no doubt there will be more. See http://australianplays.org/script/ASC-627
After a period of family responsibilities, Frances has recently completed a biography of the Scottish miniature artist Alexander Gallaway (1759-1835), and is now working on another play also set in early 19th century London; and a short story set in 16th century Italy, as well as new poems.
