Kendrea Rhodes is a visual artist, writer, poet, psychiatric survivor, and PhD candidate at Flinders University, South Australia. Kendrea’s PhD research uses Mad Studies and creative practice to research the fragmented histories of the former Ballarat Asylum in Victoria. As a psychiatric survivor, Kendrea turns to her creative practice and the natural world for relief from study. This wellbeing response feeds back into the research process, creating an integral critical/creative feedback loop. Kendrea’s Mad creative research outputs are exhibited annually in the South Australian Living Artist (SALA) festival; visit KendreArt.com for a selection of her creative responses to knowing Madness.
