Rob Waters

Rob Waters is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans poetry, storytelling, playwriting, cultural education, and spoken word performance. He is a multiple-time NSW Poetry Slam State Finalist and National Finalist in the Australian Poetry Slam. In 2023, Rob was named the Australian Poetry Slam Champion.

Originally from Tamworth on Gomeroi Country in north-western New South Wales, Rob is now based on Darkinjung Country the NSW Central Coast, where he continues to develop and share his artistic practice. With over 25 years of experience, he has worked closely with communities and in adult education, helping people engage with and apply culturally informed storytelling and spoken word poetry helping them share their messages locally, regionally, and globally. Rob’s work has been described as powerful, moving, and at times confronting — always deeply grounded in culture, education, and activism.
