Robert Sullivan
Robert Sullivan’s bestselling Hopurangi—Songcatcher: Poems from the Maramataka (Auckland University Press) was shortlisted for the Mary and Peter Biggs Award for Poetry at the 2025 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards. His other shortlisted books include the epics Star Waka and Captain Cook in the Underworld and the award-winning children’s book Weaving Earth and Sky. A past recipient of the Lauris Edmond Award for a distinguished contribution to New Zealand poetry, he co-edited Puna Wai Kōrero: An Anthology of Māori Poetry in English, the contemporary Pacific poetry anthologies Mauri Ola and Whetu Moana with Albert Wendt and Reina Whaitiri, and with Janet Newman co-edited Koe: An Aotearoa Ecopoetry Anthology. He is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at Massey University. Robert belongs to Ngāpuhi and Kāi Tahu iwi.
