Velvety smooth undersides
With intricate bumps and curves,
Left on the waterfront
with no choice but to stay,

Partly exposed to the radiant sun,
Partly concealed in the sandy rock pools
They lay unrevealed for many years
Soon to be uncovered once again,

Waves plunging towards the shore
Is all you hear as you press them up to your ear,
The salty scent surrounds you like a dream,
Engulfing you until you’re submerged in a heavenly trance

Their stories stay hidden within the fragile walls,
Their secrets are kept quiet eternally,
If they could only confess and inform us
What tales they could tell
