Blanket of memories

Do you know how I have grown up?
I’m not a little girl anymore.
I can ride a bike and run around,
I can go for walks by myself.
How have you been, living under my pillow?
Do you get bored just sitting there waiting?
Have your rough edges started to mend?
I’m really sorry about that.
Have you grown, any more than a hand towel?
How about that thank you letter for grandma, after she did find you hidden in the cupboard?
The colour of the sky on a cold autumn’s day.
Do you still miss your sister? Who I lost when I was young.
I go to a school now.
I don’t need anyone to swim in the pool
I’m 8 years older than I was when I first saw you.
I would be crushed if I ever lost you.
I can still come home to you,
and feel comforted by you
