Bulldozers of the bush (hairy nosed wombats)

Misty eyes go to rest
Great green grass all so fresh
Cold long winds brush against my fur
I crawl into my cave at night and slumber
Time passes all so fast, I woke up in a flash!
Loud noises ring my ears like bells
The great green grass is no more, our gumtrees striped from their core
The loud machines are titans as they dig up land
and pour concrete as quickly as they can
kicked out of my own home, where has all the time gone
New days, I’m always blue
I try to think that it must not be true
But deep deep down in my heart, I really don’t know where to start
My long sharp claws dig fast, protecting me from the blast
Hard to breathe in my cave
Hollows filled with concrete paved
I dig and dig an endless hole
My hairy nose is tipped in white with fright
I try and try with all my might
Escaping my hole within the night
