Bushfire
By Lilly M
My house disappears behind me swallowed in orange flames
I should have left when I had the chance instead
Hiding from the warning, my only thought was…
If I can’t see you, you can’t see me
How could I have been so stupid
The smell of smoke fills my dry nose as the sunny sky disappears in a dark cloud,
A tiger of flames in my face, stripes of the brightest of orange and dark, burnt wood
It is now blacker than black, no light penetrates the darkness, this is hell!
My life flashes before my eyes as I fall into a deep sleep…
I am startled to a wake
All I see is my family and friends gathered around,
Then a wooden box with my face on it,
I already took my final breath
I am overcome with emotions, flowing rivers of tears running down my face
Guilt dwells inside me
This is my own stupid fault
But it is really the end
I rise high into the clouds
Goodbye my family, goodbye my friends, I love you all,
But I have been called home, it is now my turn to rest
