Step by step, I’ll trek along
Unstable treads that I make
Keeping intact the world’s bliss
Surrounded, hearing the trail’s song

The chirping birds, they’ll yell and sing
What an amazing scene I see
Further along I seem to hear
Magpies and pigeons with a blissful ring

On occasion I’ll see a blue tongue
Mighty and strong
Lurking around within the grass
Small and striking aged so young

Some of the trees are eucalyptus, the rest slip my mind
Hard to remember when it’s disturbed
By development and housing taking over the soil
Taking away the sacred peace that resides in my mind

Step by step, I make my way
All the way down a rocky trail
As the years go by it gets defaced
Peace of mind being stripped away
