Still and quiet as a mouse
My pretty necklace in my house
Round and red, hanging from a chain
Was a red pearl, attached to a string.

It’s filled with love and memories
Of a person I like who’s lots of fun.
My mother’s mum gave it to me
I was young and she was free.

It reminds me when I had seen her
Sick in bed, coughing away,
About to die but soon was saved.
I’m glad she’s still alive.

When I’m old and you are young,
I will give it to you, my son.
Pass it on, generation to generation.
I will be with whoever has the lucky necklace.
