My Talisman Poem

As I turn my necklace between my fingers
I get taken back to the day I got it
I am on the beach with the breeze in my hair
And the trees growing alongside the beach
And the screech of the birds flying high in the sky
I see the sun dying on the horizon
And I remember the conversation which led to me getting my heirloom
I smiled and accepted it then tossed it in my pocket
At first I didn’t like it
But then I was told of its history and value
With time I learned to like it
And over time started to wear it
But made sure that no one saw it
I kept that necklace for 9 years and that is my talisman
