Perishing in the Night

The sun penetrated through the exuberant canopy of viridescent leaves
It painted prismatic colours, weaving tapestries of saffron and gold, hiding behind billows of cumulus clouds
Ubiquitous dew, beading finer than that of a serpentine wedding dress, effortlessly following curves of the earth
Wafting through the sinuous footpaths, the aroma of a tart young nettle stung the air
A meandering river, its cerulean water coruscating, silvery sequined fish darted through wan coral, insentient
The cacophonous squeal of Harpy Eagles imbued the atmosphere, dark grey feathers with a white underside line its body
A black band of plumage spanned from its neck and fan of grey feathers crowned its head
Its cosmic talons bigger than those of a grizzly bear
Piercing the sides of an Iguana, vermillion blood escaping
Tumultuous machinery reverberated in the atmosphere, stentorian roars of command
Florida Yew stood naked on the floor with its bare arms outstretched
A macabre crucified skeleton
Bristlecone pine insensate as if it were the fallen mast of a ship struck by lightning
Flying atop of the cataclysm, it scoured the land in pursuit of finding it’s habitat
Any means of life, sporadic, it wails, croaks, whistles, and mews
An aerie of Harpy Eagles far into the horizon
Deluges of rain impaled the workers, their fluorescent vests, beaten down by the rain
Descending from its flight,
Jaded
