Soft, scruffy fur that’s all faded and worn;
Sparkling, black eyes like jewels in the dark;
And cocked, lopsided ears, all soft and velvety;
Hazelnut brown fur on her back, tail and head with once creamy fur on her belly, legs and tail that are now all grey;
The beans in her body sift and sigh like the wind caressing an old building with stories to tell;
Since the moment I first came home, she was there smiling and full of love, sitting in my cradle, waiting for me;
All the years we’ve spent together and many more to come, filled with happiness and love;
She a dog, I a girl, the best of friends forever;
All her quirks I love, her sparkling eyes, and her lopsided ears from when one was sewn back on;
Sparkles.
