I couldn’t find an object, though around me there were many
I didn’t have enough inspiration, just couldn’t find any
And then, from outside my house, I heard a little thing
That caused my ears to buzz a bit, then caused them to ring
A radio
It took me to Toowoomba, Sitting in the shed
As the morning news broadcast, was blasted in my head
Great Uncle Jeff was a machine, his song was blaring loud
And soon he finished singing, as it gave a final sound
Then I’m suddenly in a car, with a gear stick set to drive
I hear an awful song that was completely ruining the vibe
Now I’m graduating primary the radio was shouting
And the song was calming, peaceful it was there at every outing
And so I realised that after every fight and every strife
There was a radio playing in every part of my life
And whether it was playing something hard rock, or trappy
For a few short minutes I could genuinely be happy.
