In the rainforest,
Swinging and jumping, leaping around
Playing a key role in its life
The black spider monkey
An essential part of the tropical rainforest.
Thudding around, searching for fruit
Spending most of their daylight hours swinging through the high canopy of trees.
Using their strong tails to fight their predators.
The females taking the lead role in their family.
Hanging on the trees with their tails, relaxing and sleeping.
Swinging from limb to limb
Under threat of extinction
Roughly living 30 – 40 years
Living in a large community of about 20 to 100 male and female monkeys.
