My long leafy arms stretch out over the manmade pavement,

Desperately trying to reach my brothers and sisters, despite our enslavement,

The sun and sky barely shine past all the skyscrapers,

Whilst they stand there trampling the land and emitting toxic vapors,

So much destruction and desecration of nature,

And yet you humans treat it as if it’s nothing major,

How is it possible that I provide life to every other living thing yet,

Am dying myself?

My leaves are used in your medicine, my branches give you shade and comfort and I even give you my trunk for resources and shelter,

Yet all I get in return is choking on noxious gasses and manmade heatwaves in which I am left to swelter,

I wish it would all just

Stop.

The destruction, the taking us for granted, the carelessness. I wish it would all just

Stop.

In roughly 200 years we will all be extinct,

As fast as you can blink,

Because if the trees are all deceased,

Every other life form’s existence will cease.
