My world slowly began to flood,

day by day the rain dropped with a thud.

More water than I have ever seen,

not even a break of sun in between.

The backyard where I used to play was soaked,

as the land I lived on began to choke.

The rain was endless.

The floods were tremendous.

The farmers worried,

they needed to hurry.

They scrambled to save their crops,

all they wished for was the rain to stop.

I thought the drought was bad,

but these floods made me sad.

I watched as the people evacuated,

the weathermen miscalculated.

When will the rain stop?

I felt my heart drop.

I wished for a break,

but all I received was my very own lake.
