Wondrous

Soft lilting notes flow from the chords,
A minim, a quaver, a crotchet,
Violas and violins hitting my ears in hoards,
Familiar tones comforting me like a blanket,
The sounds lift from the paper fluidly,
Floating through the air,
They hypnotize the community,
As old as fine wine,
Passed on and learned religiously,
This wondrous melody of mine.
My mother knew it on a piano,
My brother on his flute,
I’m yet to learn it I know,
The beauty is absolute.
The melody carries you to your dreams,
Or pulls tears from your eyes,
Bring a smile to your face so pure it gleams,
Even bring forth truth from your lies,
A sound of family, absolute and divine,
The wondrous melody of mine.
