For the first time, a new generation share poetry and reveal their experiences of life inside Australia’s asylum regime on Nauru.

Created and curated by Dr Saba Vasefi, Writing In Resistance supports women and non-binary emerging writers to use poetry as a way to defy violence, gendered racism and intersecting forms of discrimination.

Join us in the Art Gallery of NSW forecourt to hear readings from six poets in conversation with host Senator Mehreen Faruqi and curator Dr Saba Vasefi.

One of Australia’s leading designers, Bianca Spender, has provided the poet’s clothes for this event and they will appear on stage in her designs.

Presented with support from AGNSW, Red Room Poetry, and Adès Foundation.
