Spread the Word: Share a Poem

Poetry Month

Poetry Month ends at the end of the month, but the love for poetry lives on.

On Monday, 31 August, we're inviting poetry lovers everywhere to take part in Share a Poem Day — a simple initiative celebrating the poems that stay with us and the joy of passing them on. Whether it's an old favourite or a recent discovery #ShareAPoem is a chance to fill social media with poetry and remind one another of the power of words.

Getting involved is easy. Share a poem, record yourself reading it aloud, post a favourite line, or tell us why a particular poem has stayed with you. Be sure to credit the poet and publisher, and only share excerpts where appropriate. However you choose to participate, don't forget to use the hashtag #ShareAPoem so we can discover and celebrate your posts throughout the day.

Poetry has always travelled from person to person — spoken aloud, passed between friends, tucked into letters, and now shared across digital communities. Share a Poem Day is our invitation to continue that tradition, creating a moment where thousands of people can connect through language, memory and imagination.

Mark 31 August in your calendar, start thinking about the poem you'd like to share, and help us spread the word. Because Poetry Month may end, but the conversation doesn't have to.
