Helena Fox lives by the ocean on Dharawal Country in Wollongong, Australia. A novelist, poet and creative writing mentor, Helena runs writing workshops for people of all ages. Her debut novel, HOW IT FEELS TO FLOAT, has been published in Australia and internationally and won the Prime Minister’s Literary Award and Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Writing for Young Adults in 2020. Her second novel, arriving early 2023, is called THE QUIET AND THE LOUD. Her poetry has been published by Red Room Poetry and in ADMISSIONS, an anthology of writing on mental health. Helena received her MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College, USA. Helena has lived with mental health issues since she was small and works every day to be mindful, compassionate, and gentle with herself and others. She believes strongly in helping others find and express their voice, and in being kind. If she could, Helena would probably spend every single day walking and writing beside the sea.
