
Ben Salter
Ben Salter is one of Australia’s most highly regarded performers and songwriters. Salter has written and/or collaborated with artists including Marlon Williams, Vika & Linda Bull, Gareth Liddiard (The Drones/TFS), Emily Wurramara, Robert Scott (The Clean, The Bats), Mike Watt (TheMinutemen, Porno For Pyros, The Stooges), Tim Rogers (You Am I), Liz Stringer, Bernard Fanning (Powderfinger), Julien Wilson, Mick Thomas (Weddings, Parties, Anything), and Dan Kelly. In June 2021 legendary Australian performers Vika & Linda Bull released Salter’s ‘My Heart Is In The Wrong Place’, asone of two singles from their sophomore album “The Wait”. It was written by Salter specifically for the duo.
Salter is prodigiously prolific and has released over thirty albums over the past twenty years both as a solo artist as well as with his various projects including The Gin Club, Giants of Science, The Wilson Pickers, The Young Liberals, Mainlanders and Hownowmer.
Salter is currently engaged in the second round of a semi-permanent installation at MONA in nipaluna (Hobart). Entitled Ben Salter Import Export, it sees Salter composing and performing daily in full view of the museum patrons. He has so far released six albums worth of material recorded in the exhibit.
Salter’s seventh solo album “Mayday”, recorded at Mona, will be released on double CD in July 2022.
