Ben Salter is one of Australia’s most highly regarded performers and songwriters. He makes eclectic, esoteric music that defies easy classification, drawing on elements of indie rock, folk, jazz, electronica, country and beyond whilst maintaining a coherent and inimitable melodic style that coalesces around Salter's powerful and emotive voice.

As well as maintaining an intensive national and international touring schedule, Salter has since 2021 been a semi-permanent artist in residence at the Museum of Old & New Art (MONA) in nipaluna/Hobart, lutruwita/Tasmania, where he writes, records, collaborates and performs in his own studio within the museum. He has thus far released nine albums worth of material recorded at the studio including 2021’s twenty-one words for happiness and recent releases Mayday and Sublimation

Salter lives with his partner in the Southern Beaches area of Tasmania/lutruwita.
