This difference exists

sink beneath the
weight of simply
being
shed
float
see this?
itʼs all we need

in the darkness
we search for a
pinprick of light
we follow the stars
until we find the moon
we sit and watch it
rise
fall
itʼs impossible to
feel alone
even when we
feel so small
3.
do dream
chase tails of light
through landscapes
dotted with
a future free from
this
difference
exists
embrace the space
in which we
the “other”
live (love)
As part of the school's Big Day In celebration, students from remote and regional locations were invited to gather in Sydney for a series of events including poetry workshops by Red Room Poetry. Celebrated poet Candy Royalle staged a performance for the students on the 28th of May, 2014, and guided them through various writing and performance exercises. This difference exists' was commissioned for Sydney Distance Education in response to the experience.
