Cathy Altmann is a Melbourne poet, teacher and musician who believes poetry is for everyone. Her collection, Circumnavigation (Poetica Christi Press, 2014) received the 2015 Anne Elder Award for best first book of poetry published in Australia. Her poems have also appeared on Melbourne's trains and in numerous journals and anthologies. Cathy has played violin and read poetry at events around Melbourne. She travelled to Darwin to do a workshop and reading for the WordStorm festival. She holds a Masters in Creative Writing on poetry and cancer, and currently teaches English and Latin.
