over night poem

Clarity doesn't normally come at this hour, as I contemplate the sack;
It will be interesting to awaken and see if I'm still on track.
---
I awoke this morning in the dusty gloom,
Went and checked the clock in a distant room.
The winter dark fools the senses and lingers you in bed,
Until you wake up with a jerk and need to clear your head.
Getting ready for work now, but time enough to write.
Poetic is not how I feel this morning, but still I type!
