Salt

Salt
We bathe in its oceans
crispy as it settles.
Marking your skin with mapping of the earth
exposing the labyrinth of your being
Our soul bleeds it
dampening our exterior cages.
Flooding the souls windows -
a viscous welcome sting, as the glass begins to fog.
It feeds the colours of the serrated reef
that wilfully guard your pains.
A vibrant distracting armour
a hypnotic costume
alluring those who bathe
Salt
Your eyes flood with rolling tides
The swell spills onto the shorelines of your lips
pulling back the liquid blanket
disguising vulnerable truths.
Salt
I can taste in on your skin.
An all too familiar stagnant flow
the intimidating clasp refusing to let go.
The rolling ripples
forming puddles for me to play.
Excitement rises as innocence laughs
Salt
Inspired by the coastline and the secluded beaches of Robe, S.E. South Australia, ‘Salt’--is a welcoming home; to landmark and to a broken love.
