The sun emerges and hauls out its vast, moist specula

A shimmering basin that holds beautiful wildlife

The cockatoos give shrill calls in the early glow of daybreak

It is nature’s way of saying good morning.

Darkness takes over now, and this place basks in crepuscular gloom

The waves ascend and decend in the night with a CRASH!

They start to form a cadence, rise, fall, rise, fall

The sound is soothing, and all the panic of the day flows away.

Morning again, the sun casts its orange glow through the glass window

It’s time to go for a run along the crunchy sand

The fresh, salty air whipping my face as I move to a beat

Across the warm sand, then splashing into the cool water.

As I stroke in the water, a slimy piece of vibrant green brushes my leg

Making me squirm, not knowing what it is

The salty water pounces up into my mouth, causing my face to screw

I love One Mile Beach, my home away from home.
