A Circle of Love

I have fought wars, battles, and triumphed the unknowing,
I was created where Death did not dare.
I was a simple expression of love and eternity,
For the one I inevitably wanted to share.
For 65 years I wasn’t removed,
I clenched tight to her fingers as a reminder of devotion.
From the finest copper, gold and silver I was carved,
Three rare cut diamonds became my crown.
To create a love so powerful that needed to be visible,
Sacrifices had to be made to create my perfection and existence.
I am commitment, a symbol of love,
Or I am a breaker of hearts when greed and corruption invade.
I have witnessed Death and aided the wounded,
The life I have lived is not regretted.
Decades have flown in mere minutes,
My body has been passed from one to another.
Still to this day I lie within luscious velvet linings of various rich colours in a small petite box,
Waiting and watching for my rebirth.
My owners are gone, no longer part of this world,
Yet I still remain ready to symbolise a love that is to come.
