I am a tall and golden tree

 I wonder about my future

I hear my leaves shriveling and curling up

I see paddocks of dry grass, desperate for rain

I want the weather to cool down so I can go to sleep

I am a tall and golden tree

I pretend to shade birds’ nests as my leaves fall off

I feel the roasting heat upon me

I touch the dried grass with my trunk

I worry about my body getting chopped down

I cry as I watch surrounding trees die around me

I am a tall and golden tree

I wonder why it is so hot in wintertime

I understand now that Earth’s atmosphere is deteriorating

I dream that the Earth will repair from the damage done by its cruel inhabitants

I try to flutter my leaves as far as I can get them

I hope that I can survive in the intense winter heat

I am a tall and golden tree
