A Meadow Long Ago

There is light that shimmers in the day
But a haunting darkness that crawls at night
Lost in my mind as I lay
Thinking about the times that shined so bright
Times where I feel so lost
Times where I stared into your empty gaze
Even when these memories seem to have a cost
My heart is still ablaze

The days I spent prancing in the meadow
Those whooshing winds sounding like a soothing melody
But now it’s all over and I’m filled with sorrow
Not being able to see it’s beauty
The aroma of fresh blossoming flowers
Smelt like perfume ever so fine
A secret place where I’d spent all my hours
Running on grass that felt so divine
