A Memory

Old Ellen stood still,
Her heart no longer beating,
Her twinkling blue eyes glancing vacantly,
The isolated photo sitting alone.
A single drop of water rolls down my pale cheek,
I never got to meet her,
Never got to have a hug from her,
Never got to hold her hand,
Never got to see her smile,
I took the photo and placed it on my window sill,
The photo is still clear in the dark,
Surrounded by light,
Like the angel she was,
Old Ellen stood still,
Her heart no longer beating,
Her twinkling blue eyes still glancing vacantly,
The photo is no longer alone.
