A Piece of Me

It lays upon my neck
Tiny diamonds shimmer
Blue stone as dark as the deepest abyss
Precious
Fragile
A replacement for a lost treasure
Full of memories
Near and far
Carefully I unclasp
Clunk
I drop it gently into its home for the night
Safe and sound
It can now only see darkness
Waiting patiently
