A Poem To Be Spoken Silently

It was so silent that I heard
my thoughts rustle
like the trees.
It was so peaceful that I heard
the waves crash onto the sand.
It was so loud that I heard
the rustling of a wool blanket.
It was so silent that I heard
nothing but a cricket chirp.
It was so silent that I heard
The fire crackle as it
whispered to its flames,
“look, he is peering at us again”.
It was so still that I felt
a raindrop grin
as it trickled down the roof's gutter.
It was so calm that I sensed
a smile crack the face
of my brother.
