A Poem To Be Spoken Silently

It was so silent that l heard
a tree blow its leaves off
like water waving.
It was so peaceful that l heard
the birds tweet and
dogs bark.
It was so peaceful that l heard
the roots of the tree reach up like spaghetti arms.
It was so silent that l heard
a raindrop fall off the roof and
whisper to its neighbour
“look he is peering at us again”.
It was so silent that I felt
a raindrop grin
as it fell from the roof.
It was so calm that I sensed
a smile crack the face
of me.
