A Poem To Be Spoken Silently

It was so silent that I heard
my thoughts rumble
like a hailstorm in an avalanche.
It was so peaceful that I heard
my thoughts rustle like leaves.
It was so quiet that I heard
the birds tweeting.
It was so silent that I heard
a river whisper to its neighbour,
“swish, swish”.
It was so still that I felt
a raindrop grin
as it danced down the window pane.
It was so calm that I sensed
a smile crack the face
of my friend.
