A Rainbow’s Plea

In the streams where colours dance and gleam,
A rainbow fish fulfils its dreams.
Cairnsichthys bitaeniatus, rare and bright,
Flits through waters, a fleeting light.
Its scales shimmer, a vibrant hue,
A living rainbow, pure and true.
Yet shadows creep where sunlight fades,
As human touch our beauty invades.
Pollution's grip and habitat loss,
Turn pristine streams to bitter dross.
Where once it danced in crystal clear
Now murky depths and doubt draw near.
Let's mend the streams, renew the flow,
So in our hearts, this fish can grow.
A future bright with colours vast,
For Cairnsichthys, a chance to last
