A salute to our bees

A buzz that is failing              
A spirit that wanes                 
Our own native bees that
Die more with each day                     
People fight for koalas           
Platypus, kangaroo                
But Australia’s bees              
They suffer too                       
Yet hope is not lost                
For our flying friends             
People are learning               
And soon we will make amends
For the time has come for you and me         
To give an Australian salute
To our great native bee
