Soldier died a hero and will forever remain as one.
He walked alone, admiring the starry night above,
When things started to fall apart,
A bomb went off ten metres away,
And a cry came out to run, run away.

Soldier went along blindly and crying,
Running for a trench, anything that was close.
He fell into the dirt, looking around quickly,
Coming face to face with a group of Turkish soldiers.

His child never to witness her father’s presence.
The wife never to witness her husband’s last words.
His best friend never to witness his mate say goodbye.
The soldier never to witness the sadness left behind.
Never to witness the tears dropped off the faces of loved ones,
Never to witness his loyal dog sit outside his doorstep waiting.

The note came home walking through letterboxes briskly,
The crowd fills up the church quickly and starts overfilling
The memories from family and friends,
Brought the onlookers to tears within seconds,
Rolling down the cheeks faster than a bullet shot from a gun,
Soldier died a hero and will forever remain as one.
