We peel back the pages of a gum tree's soft bark,
Scouring the squiggly trails for the stories and secrets
We trample on ancient carvings,
Oblivious to their presence
We blast out the stars, with our convenient creations
Yet we still ask for more

We follow
The platypus’ swift glide
The cascading waterfall
And the floating Jacaranda flowers
On their everlasting cycles
In search of more

Why don’t we see,
Why do we ignore,
The delicacy of this impeccable creation
The sacredness of the Aboriginal landmarks
The timeless existence we so mournfully lack
The peaceful sound of belonging
The utter beauty of this world
