Aboriginal seasons haiku

The heat is raging.
The rain is easing away.
It's fire season time.
It is fishing time.
It's the hottest time of year.
White flowers come now.
Cool night and days.
Drew in the morning.
Beautiful flowers today.
Cold rainy season.
Noongar people migrating.
Black swans in rivers.
Flower explosion.
Magpie swopping season time.
Wattles blooming now.
Kangoruw time now.
The snakes stop hibernating.
Different orchid time.
They can pick orchids.
The orchids are beautiful.
Information on the six Noongar seasons comes from Kurongkurl Katitjin, Edith Cowan University’s Centre for Indigenous Australian Education and Research.
