Humans attack like parasites

Taking and taking until their hosts run dry

“Stop, we have nothing left to give!”

Despairing in the stumps of their fallen friends

Dragged away by thieves who have already stolen so much

Such brilliant beauty becoming brittle and barren

Birds screech in fear, bugs cower

As the air fills with mechanical clunking

Oil spilling into their homes

Staining black what was once lush and green

Bringing with them destruction and despair

Flowers flatten underfoot

Covered to build soaring skyscrapers

A poor concrete imitation of the beauty that once flourished

The dazzling stars

Drowned out by fluorescent bulbs

Creatures shiver in the night

Their homes of burrows and tree hollows no more

Millionaires sit on their piles of pennies

Circling with eyes full of greed where to devour all of life next
