Angel of Strength

After a day of grieving I opened my door, to see something I never had before
There lies on my bed a little metal coin in a box that is square
and in an instant, I’m no longer in despair
An angel prays on one side of the coin wearing a dress long in length
while the other side has the meaningful word engraved ‘strength’
That one simple word is as powerful as a queen, It’s the strongest medicine there’s ever been
In times of need, I hold my angel tight in my palm
and it reminds me to stay calm
My little metal angel has heard my tears
when I hide alone avoiding my fears
Every time I am apart from the people I cherish most
I bring my angel and hold it close
As I hold the coin I can feel all the love I have lost and the love I can’t see
but when I look at the angel I see me
Praying for strength that is hard to find
in a world so cruel it leaves me blind
Blind from hope that the world will change
because when I speak my opinion I am seen as strange
The angel is a reflection of me and my life’s aim
It’s to have acceptance, help others, and achieve, because no two days will ever be the same
